We've done it ... Sold our souls to the corporate devil.

Comcast Digital was installed today.

*sigh*

(and yes, the ticket was fucked up, the guy thought he was there to install basic. HAND OVER THAT DIGITAL BOX, SIRRAH, WITH ALL DISPATCH!)

No BBC, no channels "over" 99. But we have Cartoon, Discovery, History, TLC, Weather (yay my favorite!), AMC, and On Demand. That seems to cover both of our basic needs (guess who which likes which?)

Is BBC Americas not available at all, or just not part of the package you guys got?

And if you really like TWC, you will be thrilled to know that Comcast has expressed interest in buying them.

Welcome to the dark side. Did you get your internet access through them as well?

It's not part of the package. We currently have 72 channels + a few "music" channels, and will likely be watching a whopping 6-8 of those channels and ignoring the rest.

It'd be easy enough to order the next package, but why would I want to drop hundreds of dollars for a package that would only give us another MAYBE 10 channels, and more like 5-6?

Not yet, despite the well-trained gasp of horror of the salesdrone on the phone. We are investigating other options for intarwebz, since we're currently not getting kissed.

BBC Americas is not all that great in my opinion, it's a little too much Americas and not enough BBC. It's like they went to the video store and got a few DVDs of BBCs shows and just rerun the same ones over and over.

And they don't play Red Dwarf.

And they don't play Red Dwarf.

And that's clinched it. NOT WORTH IT!

What, no Sci-Fi?!?

We're big fans of TCM (Turner Classic Movies), as they have fewer commercials than AMC and at least as many good movies. Ted got over his colorizing heresy long ago, so you don't even have to force yourself past that in order to watch.

SciFi has sold out bigtime. Or at least it had when we last had cable. Very sad.

I'm willing to give it another chance, but I want my Samurai Jack and my Lost and my B&W movies!
