spiderine made me do it!
May. 4th, 2005 07:38 pm1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
er, hm. About 170 VHS, including copied tapes with 2 and 3 movies on a tape. About 60 DVD. And growing!
Me = film whore....*looks vaguely sheepish*
2) The last film I bought:
Time Bandits, Disney's Aladdin, Topsy-Turvy, all on DVD. Unfortunately, we had to return Time Bandits, because the last scene (starting from when Kevin returns home to when the credits roll) was utterly buggered. Which is ironic, really, because that was the only one we bought brand new, not pre-viewed!
3) The last film I watched:
In the theatre? Constantine, I think. On my home screen? The first half of Aladdin, before I got distracted.
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
Answers are subject to change.
A) "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" This movie got me through horrid living conditions, my youth, my adolescence, my teens, and my formative adult years. What can I say? And now, it's a Broadway show!
B) "Underworld" For whenever I need to nap, I pop this in the DVD player and I'm guaranteed to wake up for the credits. Don't ask me why, I enjoy the movie, the story is vaguely entertaining, and there's even a drinking game involved. Why do I fall asleep almost instantaneously? Dunno. But 90 minutes of uninterrupted sleep is important to me, and I don't even have kids! "Hellboy" is also good for this. Again, I like the movie, it's fun, and I am invariably zonked out after the room O' cats.
C) "Lord of the Rings" Hoo yeah, baby. Need I say more? Drinking games, Rocky Horror style at-the-screen-dialogue, beautiful scenery, staggering effects, wild battles, lickable dudes, Balrogs, Nazgul, what's not to like?
D) "Star Wars" Yeah, ok, the entire series, but the first one, all the way. I saw it in the theatres in June of 1977, and as that Star Destroyer soared over I head I knew that this was a life-changing movie. Changed everything, mywordyes. Geeks, movies, sound systems, special effects, fans, toy distribution, comics, even 80's politics, and then some.
E) "Blazing Saddles" Pure genius! I can recite it in my sleep, and it's still hysterical. Of course, one might be tempted to slide "Young Frankenstein" in along with it, for the same reasons, the same writers, and the same cast....
