A friend posted a link of 20-odd books that are supposedly trashy and the sort of book that you're embarrassed to be seen carrying, but which are actually quite enjoyable. I removed the horrible ones (anything Anita Blake-related had to GO), and the ones that sound like meh, and still have a list of 15 to go through.

After thumbing through a beat-up copy of Armstead Maupin's "Tales Of The City", I put it back on the shelf, scratch that one off the list.

Book 2 of Janet Ermalovich's Stephanie Plum series, "Two For The Show" was enjoyable enough as cotton candy, until I finished the book and realized that the author was born and raised in NH, and how the hell was she writing about a chick from Trenton? So I enjoyed the book for what it was, but don't care to read more in the series.

"Bridget Jones's Diary" by Helen Fielding was pure genius. I read much of it aloud just for the sheer Britishness. Some of the book was changed for the movie, but only small things. Two thumbs up!

"Valley Of The Dolls" by Jacqueline Susanne was really good. I was quite surprised to discover how much out-of-wedlock fucking and pill-popping happened in the later 40's. I don't know what I thought this was going to be about, and certainly didn't expect the "dolls" to mean "pills". Such things to learn! Also an enjoyable read.

Now I am diving into the Sookie Stackhouse series. Seen a few bits of a few episodes, and couldn't really get into it, but that likely had as much to do with the fact that we don't have HBO. After dribbling my way through the official show cookbook (yes, really), I decided to try again. So we will start with the books, and see how that goes.
