Mar. 28th, 2007 09:44 amNeo has been and gone to the vet, poor mite - apparently he cried the whole way there, but was very well behaved once there and on the way home.
He has another URI and is very susceptible to them - not surprising, considering how incredibly sick he was when he was a teensy kitten. He takes a pill every day for the next week, and has a tube of goop for his eyes.
Already, the difference in his behavior is marked - he plays and runs and chirps and hops in and out of windows, demands to be let out onto the porch.
AND OMG I HAD A SHOWER CAT THIS MORNING - TWICE!! Crazy cat hopped into the tub with me to lick the water. Of course I was stuck there with soap in my hair, unable to move and rinse lest he be blasted with water and never come near the bathroom again.
But it was worth it.
YAY MY KITTY IS BACK YAYYY!!! ♥

I got the same result as
spiderine whence the meme.

So far, we've had hissing, muted growling, showing off, ignoring, chasing, a few raised paws, frantic following, discussions over toys, a LOT of pronking, the ick-face after sniffing her ass, and a stegokitty.
Trinity uses the scratching post, thinks that still-wrapped large California steak subs are HERS (and thus tries to drag them off the coffee table....repeatedly) even though they're bigger than she is, and seems to have a rather Joan Jett way of looking at things. "I'm tiny, I'm adorable, I'm cool, I'm here, now cope"

Neo loved his water fountain and cat toys....which included all of the ribbons and wrapping paper :)
This morning,
bryanl and I ate smoked salmon and caviar while watching Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes, and I wore my new ruby earrings. Eventually we'll get around to dinner, but for now we're glutted on indulgent breakfast and memories of last night's dinner with the parents - goose, filet mignon, brussel sprouts, yum!
Yesterday, darling hubby kindly made coffee for us with fresh-ground beans, and I completely spaced that I normally have decaf or at least half-decaf.... Not being able to blink for HOURS with trembling hands is always a grand way to start a day with family LOLOL
I will leave it to hubby to gloat about the t-shirts I bought for him down in New Orleans *grin*
With best wishes from Yule to Kwanzaa to Christmas to Channukah and everything in between, much love to you all.

The Twelve Cats of Christmas
Dec. 21st, 2006 10:02 amThe Twelve Cats of Christmas
From

On the first day of Christmas when I brought home my tree:
My 12 cats were laughing at me.
On the second day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree:
2 mangled garlands
and my 12 cats laughing at me.
( Cut to save your fpage )

Jul. 21st, 2006 10:34 amTook Neo to the vet yesterday, he is now 4.1 lbs and still growing. I am very concerned about this, and have decided to start him on a pack-a-day cigarette habit, as well as cofee, to stunt his grown. Should I bind him like a Chinese noblewomans feet, as well?
He had his rabies shot, the last of his deworming, and a checkup. Vet said he's perfect, adorable, handsome, and the wettest cat she'd ever examined since that stray that was brought in from the rain. While we were waiting for the vet to come in, to keep Neo from attacking the behemoth cat on the other side of the door, I turned on a thin stream of water in the sink.
Neo was BITING the water - turning his head sideways and biting at the stream. He also was pawing at it, so his paws were wet, his butt was wet, his head was wet...it was adorable.
Also, while waiting, I looked at some of the posters and pamphlets they have there, and found the most appalling poster I have ever seen. More disgusting than aborted foetuses, more horrible than images of blown up bodies in war - it was an image of an animal heart, removed post-mortem, FILLED with heartworms - the heart had been sliced to show, and I thought that the heart had actually burst from being full, but the vet calmed me down and assured me that it had been cut for display purposes. And that they try very hard to keep that from ever happening.
MAKE SURE YOUR PETS GET HEARTWORM MEDICINE!!!!
That was so gross, my brain is seriously scarred from that image.

Jun. 23rd, 2006 06:25 pmNeo is home. Receptionist at the vet was a touch on the snarky side. I'm sure I would know best if my cat eats shrimp, ok? And I cannot believe that they insisted I feed him a can of Fancy Feast - ew! Why would I give my boy McDonald's when he could be eating healthy??
Anyway, brought him home, and the first thing he did was tear off into the bathroom to take a massive kitten dump. Such a good boy, waiting for the catbox! Then he came into the kitchen, turned his nose up disdainfully at the Fancy Feast crap, and gorged on Science Diet kibble. Clever boy ;) Then he sat on the tissue we'd been using to wipe his eyes, so that we couldn't use it anymore nyah nyah mom!
Sat on my lap during dinner, two paws on the table like a diplodicus. Is currently on my lap as I type.
He's better - still breathing through an open mouth, but less often. And a kitten who snargles is just a pitiful sight! He also whistles through his nose, the poor darling.
Tomorrow is still iffy. We'll decide then what our plans are.
My little boy is home!!

Jun. 19th, 2006 01:27 pmIf you remember, a few months ago, FIL went in for a leg operation. They opened up his leg, and discovered that they coudln't do what they'd expected to because the artery in his leg was blocked up too much for the sten-thingie. So he had to heal up, so that they could do another cut-you-open procedure to see if they could do a THIRD procedure, and then he had to heal up from the second procedure. Today is the third, and hopefully final, procedure about this - replacing the blocked artery with a new artery from another part of his body (eeeeeeeeeeew!), and hopefully his crap luck with hospitals has finally made a turn for the best, and he won't have to deal with unexpected extended hospital stays. So we find out later, and if he's home and up to it, will be going over there for post-hospital visit and for belated Father's Day. Let's cross our fingers on THAT, shall we?
And speaking of people with hospital stays, I am delighted to introduce all of you to
roadnotes. Velma and I met back in New York, and she was kind enough to be a model for me in a fashion show with hubby and
spiderine, even after I dropped a carbiner in her face (I'm still mortified by that, BTW!). She is a gloriously sexy, intelligent, dry funny woman, and I am extremely grateful to
ceosanna for sending me that random link where
roadnotes had commented with a portrait icon.
So everyone, this is Velma. Velma, this is everyone!
Got my kitten fix over lunch. The little fiend STOLE A PIECE OF LINGUINI OUT OF MY BOWL!!!
squeeeee

Jun. 17th, 2006 04:10 pm"Neo" is 8 weeks old, still has sticky-outie-kitten fur, and loves ear scratches.
I'd show you a picture from the Humane League, but they already took it down. They thought his name was "Jimi", but we know it's "Neo" ;) He's so little that his collar is bigger than he is!
Thank you,
darthluna <3
We'll post pictures as soon as we get batteries for the damn digital.
