I got the results back from my blood tests. Everything is fine, except for my cholesterol is high. I think I remember them saying I had 221? but shouldn't be over 200? And my other "bad" number was 143? And shouldn't be above 120?

So now what do I do? I was told to reduce my fats and take the test again in 6 months. I don't eat fat itself (always leftovers for the dog!), and don't do a lot of dairy cuz I'm lactose-cranky (all right, I love butter on my veggies, but that's all). Hubby says HAH YOU DON'T EAT WELL (to which MY thought is AND you) and he's threatening me with sprouts and salad as every meal. I do try to not eat chips unless there is company or I'm PMS-y, and I don't eat a lot of candy cuz it makes my teeth itch. I don't eat much bread or other grain products cuz I'm allergic to THAT too.

What's next? Living on sprouts is RIGHT OUT.

Some folk just have high cholestoral. It doesn't sound like you eat THAT badly, and you're rail thin so it's not like you're one of those mondo sized humans that drive around in the motorized carts at the store and fill the basket with Little Debbie cakes and chips.. grr on them.

This worked for me

I was on the borderline and heading up. Doc said if it got worse, we'd have to deal with it.

I started eating oatmeal - basic Quaker Oats oatmeal. Dull and boring, yes, but the last time I had cholesterol checked, we did nt have to discuss it.
5 days a week - mush for breakfast - and I have not altered WHAT I eat except to try to cut down. And that is a weight gain issue.

One problem apparently down - on to the next one...

The quaker box even gives you recmmendations on serving sizes to help sop up the cholesterol. Hope this helps.

I *do* eat oatmeal - it's one of the few grains that I'm permitted. Some brown sugar, some frozen berries, good to go!

Don't eat it every day *cuz ew* but since I tend towards a cup of herb tea, and occasionally a piece of fresh fruit, for breakfast, that's a major meal for me to start the day with.

big dumb stupid cholesterol...

ok.

try this:
for a week, write down what you eat. It may be that you are eating something that is fattier than you think.

excersize. I know it is a dirty word, but it does help.
that is all I can think of for now. The drive last night was suck.
